What to expect from nutrition counseling?

During the initial consultation, I will collect a detailed medical, lifestyle, and nutrition assessment. I will listen to your goals and motivations for nutrition therapy, help identify roadblocks and pain points, and understand where you are in your change process. Next, I will provide education and different directions we can explore to help you reach your goals. Finally, we will work together to determine which direction is the best fit for you and your lifestyle, and map out a plan providing you with transparency moving forward through the rest of your sessions.

During follow-up sessions, we will work together through that roadmap until you reach your athletic performance goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

All 1:1 nutrition counseling happens virtually. Depending what your needs are, I may be able to see you no matter which state you reside in. I can provide most aspects of nutrition coaching and education in all 50 states. However, due to licensing laws, I can only provide medical nutrition therapy to athletes who are physically located in AZ, CA, CO, HI, FL, ID, IL, IN, MI, MT, NJ, OR, PA, TX, and VA. If you are not located in one of those states, please email me, and we can determine the best steps forward. If not me, I am happy to refer you to a local colleague!
I am able to meet with athletes ages 13 and older. If you are the parent of an athlete under 13, I am happy to refer you to a pediatric dietitian.
For the most part, I find that a good starting point is the initial consultation and four to five follow-ups, which is why I created the Rookie package. For instance, some athletes need/want five follow-ups, while others utilize regular monthly meetings during their off-season/pre-season. Finally, some athletes complete the Rookie package and then come back for occasional tune-ups. During an initial session, we can map out what will work best for your performance and your budget. Follow-up sessions can be purchased a la carte or as a package after an initial session!

It’s important you find the dietitian that is the right fit for you!

I focus on a blend of current science, nutrition, and exercise physiology research to help my athletes fuel, recover, and perform optimally.  Nutrition coaching/counseling should be a collaborative process with athletes to identify realistic changes that can work in their lives, helping them achieve the most success. I actively work against any notion that foods are “good” or “bad” and instead promote all foods as part of a well-balanced diet. Equally important to me is working to foster a positive relationship with food that allows for realistic lifelong changes. Finally, if used appropriately, I believe vitamins and supplements can be powerful tools in the sports nutrition journey.
I recognize that this is quite an investment, and I want nutrition to be accessible to all athletes. My pricing is based on the insurance rates for nutrition assessments and sessions (i.e., the rate I would be reimbursed by an insurance company for providing their client with nutrition therapy). For that reason, my pricing is transparent and consistent with the costs of seeing other medical providers. Additionally, this allows me to provide you with a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance company, as some may provide reimbursement directly to you for my services. If you are interested, let me know up front.

If you are not ready or able to pay for one-on-one sessions at this time, please join my email list, where you will receive free resources and be notified when my lower-cost group classes open up.
Presently, I can provide a payment plan for the Rookie package that allows you to pay over time. Additionally, you can pay for an initial assessment and then for each follow-up session à la carte.

I sure can! The energy needs assessment (calories and macronutrients) are included as part of the Rookie Package, or can be purchased separately after an initial assessment. Meal plans are also an add-on, depending on needs. Fuel plans can be made within sessions.
